How to Find, Download, and Install Gateway Drivers
If you're having problems with your Gateway hardware, you may need to install or update a driver for your device. The following guide will show you how to do this without spending a dime of your own money.
Warning: You should never download Gateway drivers from "free download sites". Even when these sites do have the software you need, they also may have spyware, etc. Only go to the manufacturer's website, and/or use driver update software that does.
How to Use the Windows Device Manager to Check Your Gateway Hardware
You can check all of your hardware in the Windows Device Manager. You may be able to find it in the Control Panel. Depending on your version of Windows, you may instead need to click on System (located in the Control Panel),and then click on the "Hardware" tab.
For our example, we chose to download a Network Adapter driver. To check your device make and model (you may need to know this on the Gateway website), click the "+" sign next to your hardware type.
(You may see a question mark, exclamation point, or yellow triangle next to your device or device type. This is a sure sign you need to download driver software!)

How to Navigate the Gateway Site
As mentioned above, you should only download drivers from the product manufacturer (or use driver update software that does). That means you will need to go to www.gateway.com to download a Gateway driver.
Once you are there, guide your mouse over the "Support" tab, and then click "Drivers & Downloads" from the navigation menu.

You can also click "Browse All Downloads." Then, select your product type, product model, operating system, and file types from the menus provided. If you need to fix a network adapter, choose "Network Downloads" from the last menu.
Finally, click "Display Results." All drivers that match your specifications will be displayed on the webpage.
Click "Download Now" to initiate the download.
Gateway will then ask you to enter your device's serial number. Don't worry if you don't know it--Gateway provides advice on how to find this. If you still cannot find the serial number, you can simply select the "Browse All Downloads" tab.
When you are done, click "Display Results". You are usually safest if you select the most recent driver update for your hardware device.
How to Install Your New Gateway Driver or Driver Update
Now that you have saved the file on your computer, you should double-click on it. If the following "Warning" box pops up, simply click on "Run".

After you have installed your new software, you will need to restart your computer. If for some reason this did not fix the problem, you may need to go back to the site and select another Gateway driver.
