How to Find, Download, and Install Canon Drivers
If you have a Canon device that is not functioning properly, you may need to download a Gateway driver. This is especially true if you are using new hardware or have upgraded your operating system.
The following instructions will tell you how to find, download, and install Canon drivers and driver updates at no cost to you.
Use Your Device Manager to Find Problems
If the problem is with missing or out-of-date driver software, it will usually show up in the Windows Device Manager. Depending on your version of Windows, you can find this in the Control Panel, or by going to Control Panel, double-clicking on "System", and selecting the "Hardware" tab.
The Device Manager will show you all of your assorted hardware. If you see a yellow triangle, exclamation point, or question mark next to your device, it's a sure indication you have a problem.
(You can also get your device's make and model number here, which can come in useful later.)

How to Find the Right Driver on Canon's Website
Keep in mind that you should never download a driver from a "Free Software Download" site. Always go to the manufacturer--they won't charge you a cent!
Keeping this in mind, head over to www.canon.com.

You will need to select your geographical region from the map above. Then you will need to select your country. For our example, we selected United States.

You will then need to click on "Support" in Canon's site navigation menu, as seen above.
This will send you to the Product Search and Support page as seen in the image below. Click the "Drivers and Downloads" link on the left. Then select your product type from the drop-down menu.

You will then be taken to the Product Download Library, as seen in the screenshot below. You will need to choose your product type, series, and model from the dropdown menus.
If your hardware appeared in the Device Manager, you should be able to find this information there. If not, you can find it on your packaging and usually on the hardware itself.
For our example, we selected a PIXMA Pro9000 printer.

The site will then show you a page for your specific product. After you choose your operating system, you will see a list of available hardware drivers for your device.

When you click on the driver, you will be taken to an information page. You will be shown the Terms of Service on this page. Click on “I Agree – Begin Download" to download your driver.

How to Install Your Canon Driver
Double-click the file you just downloaded and it will run you through the installation process. After this, you will need to restart your computer to make sure your new hardware is working properly. In the rare event it is not, you may need to go back to the website and select a different Canon driver.
