Find New Printer Drivers for USB Printers

Printers print more than just black text on white papers. With the new printer drivers, they have become faxes, copy machines and photo printers. They really are the all-in-one office machines they claim to be. However, outdated drivers will cause them to lose some functions and not work properly.

Do USB Printers Need Drivers?
While USB printers are plug n play, they still need drivers to work properly. The only difference is Windows has pre-installed drivers to make the printer work. This makes it easier for everyone as you can use the printer as soon as it is plugged in. If there are any major changes, Windows Update will take care of it–eventually.

This system is fine for most people. However, if you are getting printer errors or one of the functions on your printer stop working, then chances are the drivers are out of date. Finding new printer drivers for the printer may not be that easy to do manually.

Locating New Drivers for the Printer
Manually finding the new drivers will require you to go to the printer’s website (Epson, Lexmark, Canon, etc). Then you will need to find their “Support” or “Download” page. When you find that page, search for your exact printer model because new drivers will only work if they are made for your exact printer.

Updating the drivers automatically doesn’t take any special work. The software is completely automated so all you have to do is click a few buttons, three to be exact. First you click “Scan”; then, you click “Download”; and finally you click “Install.” Since it is all automated, there is no guesswork and there are no mistakes.
