Find the Latest Device Drivers for Windows 7

When you purchase a computer or laptop with Windows 7, you assume it has the latest device drivers installed. However, this is not the case. In fact, it is rarely the case. Most computers you bring home from the store are not equipped with the most current drivers simply because the drivers are always being updated. Fortunately, you can do something about this.

Why Update Drivers?
Before we get into the how, we need to talk about the why. Why would you update drivers if your computer works? Our best metaphor is changing the oil in your car. You change the oil in your car every 3,000 or so miles even if nothing is wrong. You do this to protect your car and keep it running its best.

Your laptop or PC works in the same way. You need to update the drivers to keep your computer running at its best. Wrong drivers can slow things down and can cause problems behind the scenes, problems you won’t know about until it is too late.

How to Update Device Drivers
You basically have two options, you can either update the device manually or you can do it with software. Now when you do it manually, it requires you looking at each and every device driver currently on your computer.

To get an idea of how many drivers are on your computer, open up the Device Manager. It is divided into categories and each of those categories has subcategories each needing its own driver.

What About Software?
Manual updating can take hours. It requires going to each manufacturer’s website, finding the particular device, downloading the new driver, and then installing the new driver. However, driver update software makes the process much faster.

With driver update software, all you do is click a few buttons and it does the rest. In just a matter of minutes, all the drivers on your computer will be completely up to date.
