As the world’s fifth largest media conglomerate, Sony has a massive database of drivers to choose from. Additionally, they have pages on top of pages of support documents you can wade through to find the help you need. While this can be nice, if you do not know what you are looking for or if you are not very computer savvy, then this can be a hassle and it can quickly become quite overwhelming.
A Quick Overview of Drivers
Everything on your computer needs a driver to work. This includes all the programs, all the devices and everything in between—without the drivers, your computer would not function. The drivers act as the communication device to keep everything running smoothly.
Anytime you update your computer (or more likely Windows automatically updates your computer for you) the drivers will need to update as well. Many times, this is also done automatically but sometimes a few drivers are left out and you run into driver errors. When this happens, you have to update the drivers yourself to get your computer back to running like it should.
Signs Your Drivers are Outdated
Drivers get messed up and need updating all the time but people do not recognize the symptoms. Here is a quick checklist that points to driver errors.
- No Sound
- Printer Not Working
- Printer Prints Extra Sheets
- Speakers Make Crackling Noise
- Error Message: Device Not Recognize
- USB Device Not Working
How to Update Sony Drivers Manually
There are two ways to update your Sony drivers, one of which is using the Sony website. If you plan on updating your drivers manually, you should only use the Sony website as it is the only way to safely download the driver yourself. Otherwise, you could wind up with bigger problems than you started with.
- Go to the Sony website
- Hover over Support
- Hover Over Electronics
- Click on Drivers/Software
- Select a Product Category
- Select a Series
- Select a Model
- Select the Drivers & Software Tab
- Select the Arrow next to the update you need
- Click Download
- Click Download Now
- Click Save File
Once you save the file to your computer, navigate to where you saved the file. Then double click the exe file to begin the installation of the file. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver on your computer. You will need to repeat this process for each driver you need to install on your computer.
How to Update All Drivers Automatically
Instead of updating drivers one at a time, you can update all drivers at once. With driver update software, you update all your drivers with a few simple clicks. With three clicks, you scan, download and install everything in two minutes. No need to search through thousands of drivers. No need to search through dozens of websites.
All you have to do is turn on one program and click three buttons to update Sony drivers. It does everything else for you. When it is done, all the drivers on your computer will be up to date and your computer will be running like new.
