There are many, many kinds of SIS drivers. From audio drivers to video drivers. SIS or Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation makes many on board components for computer motherboards, so if you are having a problem with a sis driver the best thing to do is go to the manufacturer of your computer and download the latest driver and install it. Before you can do that though, you may need to know what your hardware is.
Finding Out What Your Hardware Is
To find out what your hardware is, you need to go to Device Manager.
To get to Device Manager:
- Go to Start
- In the Search Bar type in Device Manager
- Press Enter
- You should be able to get to Device Manager from the menu there
In Device Manager you will see a menu with your hardware listed in groups. Your sound and video are under “Sound, video and game controllers.” Other hardware you may need to look for. Make note of the exact model. When you get to the manufacturer’s web page, you may need this information.
Getting the Drivers
At the computer manufacturer’s web page look for a “Support” or “Downloads” page. It may sort by your computer model, or by device. So have both handy. Once you find the driver, download it to a place you will remember. Make note of if it is an exe or not.
Updating SIS drivers
Once you have downloaded the driver from the manufacturer if it’s a exe, just double click it and it will self install. If it’s not an exe follow these steps:
- Go to Device Manager and find your device
- Double click on the device and go to the “Driver” tab
- Click the “Update driver” button
- “Browse” to where you saved the driver and update the driver from there
An Easier Way
You could of course use driver update software to get the SIS drivers for you. Its hassle free, no searching the web for the drivers, no going into Device Manager to find the name of the driver, then to install the driver, just a couple clicks of the mouse and it’s taken care of.
