There are many, many kinds of SIS drivers. From audio drivers to video drivers. SIS or Silicon Integrated Systems Corporation makes many on board components for computer motherboards, so if you are having a problem with a sis driver the best thing to do is go to the manufacturer of your computer and download the latest driver and install it. Before you can do that though, you may need to know what your hardware is.

Finding Out What Your Hardware Is

To find out what your hardware is, you need to go to Device Manager.

To get to Device Manager:

  1. Go to Start
  2. In the Search Bar type in Device Manager
  3. Press Enter
  4. You should be able to get to Device Manager from the menu there

In Device Manager you will see a menu with your hardware listed in groups. Your sound and video are under “Sound, video and game controllers.” Other hardware you may need to look for. Make note of the exact model. When you get to the manufacturer’s web page, you may need this information.

Getting the Drivers

At the computer manufacturer’s web page look for a “Support” or “Downloads” page. It may sort by your computer model, or by device. So have both handy. Once you find the driver, download it to a place you will remember. Make note of if it is an exe or not.

Updating SIS drivers

Once you have downloaded the driver from the manufacturer if it’s a exe, just double click it and it will self install. If it’s not an exe follow these steps:

  1. Go to Device Manager and find your device
  2. Double click on the device and go to the “Driver” tab
  3. Click the “Update driver” button
  4. “Browse” to where you saved the driver and update the driver from there

An Easier Way

You could of course use driver update software to get the SIS drivers for you. Its hassle free, no searching the web for the drivers, no going into Device Manager to find the name of the driver, then to install the driver, just a couple clicks of the mouse and it’s taken care of.

If you can’t hear any sound from your computer, you probably have a problem with your audio drivers. We’ll address that after we make sure the simple easily overlooked fixes aren’t the problem.

Check Your Connections and Volume

It may sound obvious, but you would be surprised at how often people forget to make sure that their speakers or headphones are plugged in correctly. Take a look at the audio jack and make sure you are plugged into the audio input. Next open up the Volume Control and check your sound settings. Make sure your audio device is recognized, not muted, and turned up.

Update Audio Drivers

Loss of sound can be caused by corrupt or out of date audio drivers. This can be fixed by updating the audio drivers to the latest version of the drivers available. To do this we first need to know what your sound card is. To find this out we need to go into Device Manager.

  1. Go to Start
  2. In the Search Bar type in Device Manager
  3. Go to “Sound, video and game controllers” and find your sound card. Make a note of the exact make and model

Now you will need to go to the manufacturer’s web page and find the latest sound card drivers. At the web page, look for a “Support” or “Download” section to start your search. Once you have found the driver, save it to a location that you will remember and make a note of if it is an exe file or not. If the file is an exe file all you need to do is double click on the file and it will self install. If it’s not, then follow these steps:

  1. Go back to your sound card in Device Manager following the steps above
  2. Double click on your sound card
  3. Go to the “Driver” tab
  4. Click on the “Update driver” button
  5. “Browse” to where you saved the file and it will update from there.

A Simpler Way

It is possible to update your audio drivers automatically using driver update software. This software updates your drivers with just a couple clicks of your mouse.

You have attached a printer, camera, scanner, iPod, or portable hard disk to your computer and gotten a “USB Device Not Recognized” error. You’ve tried restarting your computer and unplugging and plugging back in the device, but you just can’t get the usb device to be recognized. I have a few more tricks to try.

Reset the Power Supply

By unplugging the power to your computer and letting it set for about 5 minutes and then plugging it back in, or unattaching the battery and letting it set for 5 minutes if using a laptop will reset the motherboard’s power supply.

Windows Needs Updated

Updating Windows has never been easier.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Under Security click Check for Updates

Windows will check the server for updates, and then you just install the updates recommended. That may fix your problem.

Motherboard or USB Drivers May be Outdated

Here’s the tricky part. You have to know who made your motherboard, what motherboard it is out of all the motherboards they made, then go to the manufacturer’s web page and find the drivers for the motherboard. Then you have to go into Device Manager and install the latest drivers for the motherboard drivers and USB drivers.

Or you could get driver update software that automatically scans your hardware for out of date drivers and installs the updates with just a couple clicks of the mouse, without all the hassle of searching manufacturer’s pages and manually installing the drivers.

Don’t spend another trying to figure out some “USB device not recognized” error.

These days it’s a fact of life that your hardware drivers will become out of date and need to be updated on a regular basis. Today we will be discussing sound drivers.

How to Tell When You Need New Sound Card Drivers

There are several ways to tell if you need new sound drivers, most have to deal with loss of sound. For example you upgraded to Windows 7 and now have no sound. Maybe you get a “Driver not found” error.  Perhaps you have a game that you play that only in that game you lose sound and at no other time do you lose sound. All these are signs that you need to update your sound drivers.

How to Update Sound Drivers

First we need to know what your sound card is. Who made it and what model is it?

  1. Click Start
  2. Go to the Search Bar
  3. Type in Device Manager
  4. Go into Device Manager
  5. Go to Sound, video and game controllers. You should see your sound card listed there.
  6. Write down the make and model of your sound card

Now go to the manufacturer’s web page and find the model of your sound card and download the newest version of your sound card’s drivers. Save the file in a place you can easily remember and make note of whether the file is an exe or not. Not all manufacturers make their drivers exe files.

Installing the Sound Drivers

If you are among the fortunate that the manufacture made the drivers an exe file, just double click the file and it will automatically install. If not head back into Device Manager following the steps above.

  1. Double click on the sound card
  2. Click on the “Driver” tab
  3. Click on the “Update driver” button
  4. “Browse” to where you saved the driver and update from there
  5. Your computer may want to restart at this point, let it do so.

An Easier Way

There is an easier way to update sound card drivers than the above steps. That is going with a driver update program. It will scan your computer for out of date sound drivers, then update the drivers for you.

Dealing with HP printer driver errors is no fun, especially since driver errors will make your printer come to a screeching halt. It’s easy to get the HP printer drivers you need to fix the issue and get your printer back in working order.

Just What are Printer Drivers Anyway?

Printer drivers are bits of software that act as translators between your printer and Windows. Without them there would be no printing at all as your computer couldn’t talk to your printer and tell it what you wanted to print.

Updating the Driver Manually

Now you want to follow my directions.

  1. Go to http://www.hp.com/
  2. Go to Support & Drivers
  3. Click on Drivers & Software
  4. Type in your product name and press Search. (If you have a problem finding it there’s a link under the box with a how to find it.)
  5. Select from the list the exact match to your printer
  6. Choose the driver that matches your operating system and download to a place you will remember
  7. Go to Start
  8. In the search box put in Device Manager press Enter
  9. Go to Device Manager
  10. Find your Printer
  11. Double click and go to the “Driver” tab
  12. Click on the “Update driver” button
  13. “Browse” to where you saved the driver and update the driver from there

That will update your drivers the old fashioned way.

Updating Drivers the New Way

These days we have a program called driver update software that will check your drivers for out of date or corrupt drivers and update them with the most up to date drivers available on the Internet, in this case that means from HP themselves. No more searching for the driver yourself and going in and updating the HP printer drivers when you have problems. They take care of themselves, with the help of driver update software.
