When you have Windows 7, you are bound to run into some errors, especially if you upgraded from XP. It might even be necessary to update some of your Windows 7 drivers. To help you navigate the litany of Windows 7 errors, we put together some of the frequently visited Microsoft support pages to help.

General Support Forum for Microsoft
The general support forum has the latest support announcements. It also has a section to help you find the right sub-forum for support. Other than that, we are not sure how much help it will be.

Event and Errors Search
If you know the name of the area which the problem is occurring, you can search the event and errors page. It has help in such areas as:
•    Networking
•    Active Directory
•    Printing Infrastructure
•    Core Security
•    DHCP Infrastructure
•    DNS Infrastructure
•    Windows Firewall and Advanced Security

Windows Update
When you visit the Windows Update page using the latest version of Internet Explorer, it will automatically detect updates available from Windows. Generally, they are listed as “Critical updates” and “Optional Updates.”  You have the option to choose which if any updates you wish to install on your computer.

Note: This only works when visiting the page using Internet Explorer. Otherwise, you will see a message explaining how to use Windows Update.

Microsoft Fix It Page
The Microsoft Fix It page is probably one of the most useful sites Microsoft offers. It is relatively easy to use, since you only have to know a little bit of what is going on with your computer. Still, you have to know what is causing the error in order to fix the problem.

The page is broken down into the following categories, each with subcategories:
•    Appearance and Personalization
•    Files, Folders, and Search
•    Hardware, CD/DVD, Sound and Print
•    Networking, e-mail, and getting online
•    Performance and Maintenance
•    Pictures and Video
•    System and Security
•    Windows Update
•    Windows

Driver Update Software
While driver update software is not part of Microsoft or Windows 7, it can fix all the drivers for both Microsoft and Windows 7 for you. It automatically scans your computer for outdated or corrupted drivers and then lists them for you. At that point, you can press a button and it will download and install the drivers for you all in less than two minutes.
